Giving Options
We offer many ways to help us in the pursuit of our mission. Options range from immediate online giving to planned giving that will help older adults of future generations. In many cases, you can designate your gift to benefit a specific campus, program, or campaign, such as our current Generation of Growth initiative.
Methods of support include cash, checks, stocks, bonds, or marketable securities. Donations are tax-deductible.
For more information about how you can help, contact Tim Imler, executive director of the Lutheran Life Villages Foundation, at (260) 447-1591, ext. 2149, or timler@lutheranlifevillages.org.
Your Options
Benevolence Fund
The Benevolence Fund helps bridge the gap between our private pay rates and Medicaid reimbursement rates, including any payment gaps during the transition between a resident’s private pay and Medicaid status. We currently provide approximately $2.6 million in patient care every year for which we receive no compensation. Over the past 10 years, we’ve provided more than $20 million in care for which we weren’t reimbursed.
Endowment Giving
A donation to our endowment fund is a gift that “keeps on giving.” Your gift will be permanently held, and only the income and growth of the funds will be used for our programs and services. As a rule of thumb, if you donate $100 every month, you could give $24,000 and provide the Lutheran Life Villages Foundation with $100 every month in perpetuity (assuming a 5-percent growth and income rate).
Planned Giving
Planned giving includes gifts to the foundation in your will, estate, charitable trust, charitable gift annuity, life insurance policy, etc.
Wills and bequests—Gifts in wills have been one of the most popular gifts in the history of Lutheran Life Villages. Bequests are the culmination of your life interests and ensure that your charitable preferences are fulfilled. You can include us for a specific amount, for a percentage of your estate, or for the residue (amounts not designated elsewhere) of your estate. Please contact us for more information or talk with an attorney trained in estate planning.
Charitable gift annuities—A charitable gift annuity is a great way to earn a lifetime annual income on your gift to Lutheran Life Villages. You transfer cash, marketable securities, or real estate to us, and you’ll receive an immediate tax deduction. Then, you’ll receive a fixed annual payment that’s independent of changes in interest rates and the stock market.
Memorials and Honor Gifts
Many people choose to use their gifts to honor or remember family members or friends. If requested, our staff will compose a letter to the family of the person honored or remembered through your donation.

Matching Funds
Many companies match the donations made by their employees and retirees to nonprofit organizations. Call us if you’re unsure if your company matches gifts. Here are a few local employers that do match gifts:
• GE Foundation
• Lincoln Financial Group
• Thrivent Financial
Employee Giving and Payroll Deductions
Now it’s easier than ever for employees to support Lutheran Life Villages through our payroll-deduction option. You can choose a one-time gift or a gift that will be automatically deducted from your paycheck on a regular basis. We simply transfer the amount from your paycheck to the designated program or activity. Last year, employees committed $30,946.63 to benefit our residents.
Gifts In-kind
People often donate items—books, furniture, clothing—that are given to our residents or sold during special fundraising events. In-kind gifts are also tax-deductible. Don’t forget to ask us for the proper tax paperwork when you donate. If you have any questions about items to donate, just give us a call.
