At Lutheran Life Villages, when we say “wellness,” we mean more than just “being healthy." Instead, our wellness strategy embraces life at every level.
We accomplish this focus on a full, complete life by integrating the following six dimensions into everything we do on a daily basis.
Those dimensions are:
Includes not just our faith base, but also our relationship with Christ, how we value life, and how we perceive death and the afterlife. Ongoing chapel services, transportation to local church events, weekly Bible-study groups, and on-site pastoral services for both individuals and families all play a key part in spiritual wellness at Lutheran Life Villages.
Can change a person’s life, as it prevents illness, enhances positive attributes, and improves what may need some healing. We can tailor specific exercise classes to residents who are both mobile and immobile. More important—in terms of overall fitness for the older adult—is having the proper equipment, space, and professional instruction to enhance one’s well-being.
Is a key component of the whole-person wellness philosophy. At Lutheran Life Villages, clubs for just about every interest, as well as trips and activities, are already abundantly available.
Is a major player in terms of building a well-rounded program and includes pastoral-care services, social services, and other programs for support.
Deals with knowledge, creativity, and hobbies in life. Intergenerational programs, computer labs, on-site libraries, and our ongoing presentations address this aspect of wellness. Entertaining and educational programs presented to residents will provoke and stimulate the brain to think, remember, and ultimately continue to flourish with aging.
Promotes positive wellness in all who live and work at Lutheran Life Villages. For many people, the work environment is where we spend the majority of our lives. Creating and building sound occupational-wellness programs for staff and volunteers is therefore key to our success.
In order to implement this wellness strategy, we’ve created a wellness task force, which will help create innovative and industry-leading programs within all six dimensions of wellness.
